Yechiel Leiter: work, influence and a contemporary legacy

Yechiel Leiter is an Israeli diplomat and public-policy scholar who serves as Israel's ambassador to the United States.

Influence and contribution

American-born Leiter immigrated to Israel, held public-policy and government positions, and developed a close understanding of both societies. He entered the ambassadorship after his son, Maj. Moshe Yedidya Leiter, was killed in Gaza, bringing personal bereavement to the task of explaining Israel's security reality.

Legacy and significance

Leiter belongs in Moreshet because an ambassador is a bridge among governments, citizens and diaspora communities. His biography also records the human cost carried by public servants during war.
