Yair Golan is a retired Israeli major general and politician who leads the Democrats party.
Influence and contribution
Golan served as deputy chief of staff and in senior field commands before entering politics. On October 7 he drove south and helped rescue civilians; he later worked to unite Labor and Meretz into a single party and to rebuild a security-minded Israeli left.
Legacy and significance
His biography belongs in Moreshet because it connects personal courage, military authority and political opposition. It also documents an attempt to renew a weakened ideological camp through organization rather than nostalgia.
