Rachel Freier

Rachel "Ruchie" Freier became the first woman from the Hasidic community to serve as a judge in the United States. She also founded the all-female Orthodox Jewish volunteer ambulance service, Ezras Nashim, which gained approval despite opposition from male counterparts. (April 2, 1965)
