Leonard Kleinrock

Leonard Kleinrock developed the mathematical theory behind packet switching, which is fundamental to how data is transmitted across the internet. In 1969, he also sent the first message between two computers on a network that was a precursor to the internet. His groundbreaking work in computer networking earned him prestigious honors, including the National Medal of Science and the Draper Prize. ( June 13, 1934)
