Danny Mizrahi: A Journey in Fashion

Danny Mizrahi, born on January 5, 1959, is an Israeli fashion designer known for his contributions to the world of fashion.

Biography

Danny Mizrahi was born in the Menashiya neighborhood of Tel Aviv, Israel, into a family of five siblings. At the age of nine, due to difficult economic circumstances, he moved to the Beit Apel Youth Village, where he stayed until the age of 14.

In 1973, his two brothers established the fashion network "Rosh Indiani," and Danny Mizrahi worked for the network in various roles, including as a tailor and in measurements. In 1989, he started working as a fashion coordinator and also designed all the shop windows for the chain. In 1986, he initiated the purchase of the "Topper" chain, which was in financial distress.

In 1997, following a family dispute, Mizrahi left "Rosh Indiani" and opened a store named "Danny Mizrahi Designs" in Tel Aviv.

Mizrahi's first foray into publicity occurred when he designed a dress adorned with Swarovski crystals for a family member. The dress received significant media attention in Israel, propelling Mizrahi into the world of bridal and evening gown design for leading models in Israel.

In 2002, he produced a fashion show at the Dorchester Hotel in London to raise donations for a cancer-fighting organization. Following this show, Mizrahi began designing evening gowns for actresses and singers from around the world. In 2005, he opened a store on Bond Street in London, which he closed three years later due to the distance and the split.

Mizrahi designed the outfits for Israeli Eurovision contestants such as Ofra Haza (1983), Yardena Arazi (1988), and Dafna Dekel (1992). From 1997 to 2012, he designed the gowns for participants in the Miss Israel pageant and the evening gowns for the winners representing Israel in international beauty competitions.

Additionally, he occasionally served as a judge and was a judge for three years from 2010 to 2013 in the Miss Russia competition. For three seasons, he designed the wardrobe for the participants of the reality show "Dancing with the Stars." He also designed the collection for the Eurovision 2014 winner, Conchita Wurst. Galit Gutman served as his house model for many years.

In December 2019, Danny Mizrahi declared bankruptcy, with debts amounting to approximately 7 million shekels, leading to the closure of his business as directed by the court.

Mizrahi is divorced and has three daughters. He currently resides in Herzliya Pituach.
