Chantal Belzberg
Chantal Belzberg: work, influence and a contemporary legacy
Chantal Belzberg is a Belgian-born Israeli philanthropist and co-founder of OneFamily, a support network for victims of terrorism and war.
Influence and contribution
Belzberg helped build OneFamily after her daughter's decision to donate a bat-mitzvah celebration fund to victims of the 2001 Sbarro bombing. The organization offers long-term emotional, social and financial care to bereaved families, wounded people, widows and orphans. In 2026 she received the Israel Prize for Lifetime Achievement for this model of national resilience.
Legacy and significance
Her story belongs in Moreshet because it shows how one act of empathy can become a national system of accompaniment. The Israel Prize recognition preserves a model of care that continues long after headlines fade.
